Well, I experienced my first wine harvest a couple weekends ago, and I’m not gonna lie, I’m kinda in love.
I helped with the last harvest day at one of my favorite local wineries, L’Angolo Estate, and it was seriously such a great day. I had been craving some hands-on, manual labor and looked into working harvest, but I would’ve had to quit my day job to work 50+ hours/week and that just wasn’t an option 😂
Soooo this one off-shoot day was perfect, and so thankful they let me come and experience the last day of harvest with the crew!
Here are a few snaps I got of the crew, Taylor and Carter!

Since working my one day of harvest, I’ve also helped out in the tasting room, which is a whole different vibe and pace, but also so fun. I’ve been thinking about picking up a (very) part-time gig (because I don’t have enough going on as it is 🙃😂), and this may be my answer. More on this soon… 😉
Since starting this post, I’ve gone to Palm Springs (also my 1st time!) with a girlfriend and it was truly magical and I have so many thoughts, pictures (and film!), and takeaways to share from it ✨ That weekend was a special weekend for me and I saw so many signs from Kenny and the universe that I felt assured that I am in the right place and where I’m supposed to be in this time and moment in my life ❤️
Just a few days after getting back from Palm Springs, I hosted a couple of Oklahoma girlfriends who came to stay and visit me this past weekend! We visited six wineries, one brewery, the coast, three waterfalls in The Gorge, and countless coffee shops and restaurants. Oh, and OU beat texas, while we were drinking wine at a winery and watching the game on my friend’s phone - it was amazing and one of the best games/comebacks I’ve watched in a long time.
These past few weeks (and months, honestly) have been so incredibly busy, and with the change in seasons and shift in the weather, I think things are going to start to slow down a little bit, which will be so nice, but I also love staying busy (my unhealthy 6-ness tendencies 🙃). I’m sure I’ll find something to fill my time…*cough cough*part-time winery job*cough cough*
Yesterday would’ve been my 11-year wedding anniversary. And with each year that passes, 10/9 starts to feel more and more just like any other day. I think it stings a little more on significant milestone anniversaries (which I guess would’ve only been 5 and 10 years so far haha). This year is interesting because it actually fell on a Saturday, just like our actual wedding day in 2010. I remember that year the next day Sunday, 10/10/10 was a big wedding date that a lot of people chose.
That day was a perfect fall day. And we left with a car full of thrifted farmhouse decor, orange and white pumpkins, and all the details from the day before 🤍
As this substack thingy evolves, these first few may be a little clunky as I try and figure out 1. how it works and 2. what I want to share here with yall.
So for this one, I’ll share a quote I saw at one of the wineries we visited, and it goes along nicely with how I’ve been feeling the last several months, and this whole year, actually:
“The true object of all human life is play. Earth is a task garden; heaven is a playground.” - Gilbert K. Chesterton
Stay curious and have fun, friends.
Much love,
D
